Sulfur 35 Urine

Back to Intercomparisons overview Sulfur 35 in urine The maximum number of participants in the inter-laboratory comparison is 30. 35S: 2 samples of approximately 50 ml of urine noted 25SF and 25SG containing 35S at a concentration of less than 1.00 E+03 Bq/L For participants in 14C and 35S inter-laboratory comparisons, the blank to be used is that of the 14C inter-laboratory comparison. For participants in the 35S inter-laboratory comparison alone, or in the 35S and 32P inter-laboratory comparisons, an additional sample graded 25SJ, without surcharge, will be supplied. This presentation provides a general overview of the Sulfur 35 intercomparison in urine. The information given here is for guidance only. For official, up-to-date data, please refer to the current year’s interlaboratory comparison campaign plan. CEA Grenoble / Laboratory responsible for intercomparison Urinary sulfur 35 Founded in 1956 by Nobel Prize-winning physicist Louis Neel, CEA Grenoble is the leading technological research center in the Rhône-Alpes region. Just a stone’s throw from Grenoble city center, it brings together over 4,000 people (including 2,300 CEA employees) on the Polygone scientifique site. Technological research accounts for 80% of CEA Grenoble’s activities: new information and communication technologies biotechnologies, especially nanobiotechnologies new energy technologies and nanomaterials The LBM provides biological monitoring for all employees at the Grenoble science park (CEA, Institut Léo Langevin, CNRS, etc.), and carries out medical biology, toxicology, radiotoxicology and whole-body and thyroid anthropogammametry tests. Tritium in urine

Back to Intercomparisons overview Tritium in urine The maximum number of participants for the inter-laboratory comparison is 55. A: Tritiated urine5 samples of approx. 50 ml urine 3 urine samples including 2 overloaded samples (25HTOA, 25HTOB, 25HTOC) 1 sample contaminated with urine from a person exposed to tritium (25HTOD) 1 solution of tritiated water (25HTOE) obtained by diluting the source used for overloads For the 5 samples (blank, overloaded urine, contaminated urine and tritiated water solution), the activity levels will not be specified (<1.00 E+04 Bq/L whatever the sample). B. Urinary organically bound tritiumFor requesting laboratories only: 1 sample of approximately 50 ml urine (25OBTF): urine overloaded with tritiated thymidine between 1.00 E+04 and 6.00 E+04 Bq/L This presentation provides a general overview of tritium intercomparison in urine. The information given here is for guidance only. For official, up-to-date data, please refer to the current year’s interlaboratory comparison campaign plan. CEA Valduc / Laboratory responsible for intercomparison Tritium in urine The CEA Centre for Nuclear Studies at Valduc belongs to the military applications Division and includes several Basic Nuclear Installations. The Centre’s LBM is in charge of monitoring all staff working on site from a biological, toxicological and radiotoxicological point of view. In order to achieve this, the LBM carries out: Gamma spectrometry on urines Gamma and X-ray spectrometry on the lungs, Urine and stool analysis in order to monitor exposure to actinides, Urine and saliva monitoring of personnel exposed to tritium. The laboratory is certified by the COFRAC and the French Nuclear Safety Authority regarding the monitoring of workers exposure to ionizing radiation.
