Carbon-14 in urine

The maximum number of participants for the inter-laboratory comparison is 50.

14C: 5 samples of approximately 50 ml of urine, including :

  • 4 samples including 1 without overloading and 3 overloaded samples (rated 25CA, 25CB, 25CC, 25CD)
  • 1 sample (noted 25CE) containing mixed 14C and 3H.

The concentration for each isotope is < 3.00 E+03 Bq/L.

This presentation provides a general overview of Carbon-14 intercomparison in urine. The information given here is for guidance only. For official, up-to-date data, please refer to the current year’s interlaboratory comparison campaign plan.

CEA Grenoble / Laboratory responsible for intercomparison Urinary carbon 14
Expert biologist: Véronique Chamel

Founded in 1956 by Nobel Prize-winning physicist Louis Neel, CEA Grenoble is the leading technological research center in the Rhône Alpes region. Just a stone's throw from Grenoble city center, it brings together over 4,000 people (including 2,300 CEA employees) on the Polygone scientifique site.

Technological research accounts for 80% of CEA Grenoble's activities:

  • new information and communication technologies
  • biotechnologies, especially nanobiotechnologies
  • new energy technologies and nanomaterials

The LBM provides biological monitoring for all employees at the Grenoble science park (CEA, Institut Léo Langevin, CNRS, etc.), and carries out medical biology, toxicology, radiotoxicology and whole-body and thyroid anthropogammametry tests.
