Biography
Sandra Bohand is Head of Occupational Safety and Radiation Protection at Orano’s Health, Safety and Radiation Protection Department and has been a recognized Senior Expert (Level 2) in radiation protection and radiobiology since 2015. She is responsible for overseeing all activities in this area within Orano and its subsidiaries.
With a doctorate in pharmacy and specializing in environmental toxicology, she previously spent her entire career at the Ministry of Defense, in the Armed Forces Health Service.
She held successive analytical and management positions in military hospitals (Lorient, Brest, and Marseille), at the Navy’s Analysis and Expertise Monitoring Laboratory (LASEM) in the Toulon arsenal (83), and then for the last ten years at the Armed Forces Radiological Protection Service (SPRA) in Clamart (92). Her roles as head of the radiotoxicology control laboratory and then head of the dosimetry division involved her heavily in the quality assurance and auditing activities required for COFRAC accreditation and ASN approval of the two laboratories she managed. Her work has also led her to carry out radiological monitoring and operational expertise activities outside France, in Ivory Coast (December 2007), Japan (March 2011, Fukushima accident), and Reunion Island (December 2012).
Certified by CEFRI (French Committee for the Certification of Companies for the Training and Monitoring of Personnel Working with Ionizing Radiation) from 2009 to 2014, she has been involved in numerous teaching activities (UMPC NRBC Master’s degree, training of competent persons in radiation protection-PCR). For several years, she has been a member of various working groups, including the ASNR’s GPRP (Permanent Group of Experts in Radiation Protection).
